Tango-Amanohashidate-Ōeyama Quasi-National Park

18-20 July 2025

We escaped the festival crowds and drove to Amahashinodate in northern Kyoto Prefecture, consisting of several areas of interest on a pennisula in the Sea of Japan.  Amahashinodate refers to more than 2 miles of pine-covered sand bar extending across Miyazu Bay, considered one of three major scenic spots in Japan.  Meaning "the bridge to heaven", that's what it's supposed to look like when bending over and viewing it between your legs...  From there we explored the  the pennisula, stopping at spots both scenic and historic.
