Gion Festival week2

Many of the festival floats for the Ato Maturi or latter part were still being reassembled and most of their finery was on display in nearby buildings.  Many surrounding buildings also displayed some of their finer folding screens, tapestries and ikebana skills as well making it a delight to wander around and see what you could find.  They had sunny, but HOT weather for the 2nd major float parade...  It was interesting to note that many of the tapestries originated in Europe or were other foreign goods treasured hundreds of years ago.  Similarly, many of the floats reflect tales of Chinese origin...
