We drove west across the south shore of
Shikoku. Despite the rain, we stopped in Kiragawa which
featured
numerous old style houses, built to withstand typhoons, and
learned about their unique display methods for
Girl's Day. Further up the coast we toured Monet's
Garden Marmottan in the hills above Kitagawa, a
reproduction of Monet's gardens in Giverny, along with another
garden based on paintings he made on a
tour of the Mediterranean. Luckily the weather
improved and we pressed on, eventually learning why the
GPS wanted us to take another route.... We ended the day
with a scrumptious 13-course Kaiseki dinner at
the National Hotel in Ashizuru National Park on the southwest
cape of Shikoku.
