Kyoto - First Day

1 October

Barb flew to Kyoto for her 3rd ikebana week of classes at Ikenobo Chuo Kenshugakuin (Central training Institute).  Got to watch the sunset from the plane, and the nearly full moon rise over the clouds.  Kept moving the first day to avoid jet lag hitting while in class...  Started at the monthly antique market at Toji temple, then off to explore nearby Umekoji Park.  Discovered an exhibit of traditional garden plants in Suzaku Garden within the park, and a small aquarium featuring life within the streams in and around Kyoto.  While the giant salamanders and fish just weren't that photogenic, they're researching jellyfish which were mesmerizing to watch.  Ended up in Higashiyama and Gion before supper and bed...
