Otago Peninsula, November 23 - 24, 2009

We arrived in Dunedin on the 23rd, and saw the Yellow-Eyed Penguins at Pipikaretu Beach - Penguin Place. We waited at Pilot Beach, out near the end of the peninsula, to watch the Blue Penguins come ashore, but they don't come in until after sundown, and it was kinda dark (using a flash would scare off the birds, we're told). The next morning we came back and visited the Royal Albatross Center - one of the very few places on land where they can be seen.
