Korakuen and Kobe Kitano Ijinkan-gai

June 18, 2023

On the last leg before reaching Kyoto, we stopped in Okayama to revisit Korakuen, one of the three most
famous gardens in Japan.  Completed in 1700 as a back garden for the castle, it was opened to the public
in 1884.   Most of what is now covered with grass was once cultivated fields.  From there we stopped
briefly in Kobe to visit the historic western style houses on a steep hill north of the city.
