Ichiyo Workshop

As the final part of its delayed 60th Anniversary (1961-2021) celebration, Ikebana International Honolulu Chapter 56 asked the Ichiyo School of Ikebana fourth headmaster (Oiemoto) Naohiro Kasuya to teach a two-part workshop on two styles associated with the Ichiyo School.  Assisted by Kazumi Saito-sensei, he taught how to use techniques developed for nageire (thrown into a tall vase) to do a no-kenzan style of moribana (piled up flowers in a low vase).  In the afternoon he taught the Group Contrast Form in which materials with three different characteristics are used.  As I only attended the morning session, the last few photos were provided by Darryl...
